This rich stew of shellfish and crustaceans, cooked in a traditional copper ‘cataplana’, is Algarvian The flavors of mussels, shrimp, and sometimes lobster are enhanced with tomato, garlic, onion, and white wine. The result? A fragrant, steaming pan full of southern flavors, perfect with fresh bread to dip in the sauce.
- Pastel de Nata – sweet delight
No visit to Portugal is complete without a freshly baked pastel de nata. This small puff pastry, filled with creamy custard and lightly caramelised on top, is irresistible. Order one with an espresso and eat it while it's still warm, if possible, pure happiness in one bite.
